Social Studies 11 Updates

I’ve updated both the 1930s page and World War II page to include the most up to date handouts.

There is also a test outline in the 1930s page to help you prepare for the test which is Jan. 29 for period 8 and January 30 for periods 2 & 4.

Butterfly Circus

While trying to find some new resources for Social Studies 11, I came across this short film entitled Butterfly Circus. Reading that it was set during the Great Depression, I watched it, hoping that it might be a useful resource for our curriculum.

Boy, was I ever wrong, and I’ve never been so glad and so fortunate to have been so wrong. Although the film won’t add to our understanding about Canada and the Great Depression, and doesn’t help us meet any of the Prescribed Learning Outcomes, the film is a must watch.

Beautifully shot and acted it is anĀ inspirationalĀ film that invites us and challenges us to see the best in people and in ourselves.

Please, take 20 minutes out of your busy schedules to watch Butterfly Circus.
